Ketev — s/t

Release date: March 29, 2014        Label: Opal Tapes

"Berlin's Ketev debuts on Opal Tapes' latest batch with a haunting of ghoulish post-techno spectres. Essentially, over these seven tracks he's picking up where the darkest records by Andy Stott and Sam Kerridge left off, pushing the structures of industrial techno into ever slower, uncomfortably dank and dismal headspaces. To do this he uses a system of phasing patterns from reel-to-reel tape loops manipulated with 4-track cassette decks, juicing out briny sewer pulses and the most noxious ambient vapours. You may struggle to stay upright if dancing to this stuff, but please don't let that put you off. Rather, it's perhaps best received in states of disequilibrium, dosed up and seated appropriately to sink into its viscous murk."
